After Sandy 01:35
To believe it never fade away To pretend it never fall apart To create the life you never had To remember the voices in his head To survive from dreaming through the nights To correct the wrongs within the right To become the truth in his lies
2.
Ten islands in silence Nine cats in the bed Eight birds in purse Seven days without jays Six months chasing over five nightlines Four souls in three bowls Two horses play morse One man with no hands, he stays. Run around the universe, escaping to my jupiter. And trance in space, no moments in his eyes. You belong to Uranus, and dreaming through the lights in Nihilism. He flies in lights. I hide. I can’t control the time and space to read your face. My watch was stopped in the past seven minutes with the flying, flying, flying birdcage. I remember there is a wooden horse howling in the Ferris Wheel. Please turn it on for me. Don’t wake her up. Let her take the corsair for nine times. Run around the universe, escaping to my jupiter. And trance in space, no moments in his eyes. You belong to Uranus, and dreaming through the lights in Nihilism. He flies in lights. I hide.
3.
I wave hello to the wolves on the Siberian Plain. I hear lives in the Dead Sea. I yearn for the cows that flipped off the cliffs in Lauterbrunnen. I release the fireflies in my pocket over the Arctic Ocean. I never stop by your homeland. I land in the lighthouse. I hear you telling me a place called home is not a place My blood turns into sea water. My hair turns into seaweed. My hands turn into sea stars. My teeth turn into corals
4.
red forest birds aren’t taking rest someone stole their nuts a parachute is swimming with a goose will drown in juice paranoid she burns her noise remember a sighing voice she threw her crown, mirror and clocks farewell to her town
5.
Wercury 04:13
she lives on a mountain... she can’t find her path...
6.
you stole my coat I can't feel cold you cut my ears I won't fear I drew flame red on lips and ties I hear your voice from my back you found her ears not far from here their souls are seared with frozen tear I burnt his sight in the flaming night he bled pale whit on neck and tie

about

"Beijing-raised, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and composer Fay Kueen Wang has been through a lot in the past decade. An emerging new voice in the industry, the multi-faceted artist has been exposed to many different countries, cultures, and careers. She’s encapsulated all of those experiences into her must-hear debut album, A Place Called Home is Not a Place." - Pop Culturalist

A Place Called Home Is Not A Place observes human life from the out-of-body perspective of someone without a place, inspired by psychology, dream analysis, astrology, and surrealism. Placing her haunting, whispered vocals and smoky, jazzy keyboard playing in a dark, warm cave of warped synths and glitchy beats, these eight songs evoke an isolated and dreamlike inner world during a period of intense uncertainty and personal turmoil. The title track was written in 2013 while Fay was living in Boston - a mile from the site of the marathon bombing - and struggling with her immigration status. Other songs narrate a nightmare during an eclipse (Bunny Bastard), a romantic encounter in the middle of Hurricane Sandy (Before/After Sandy), and an escape from heartbreak by diving into the work of Salvador Dali (Atmospheric Zebra). Taken together, the record dreams of the dissolution of boundaries between beings, foreseeing all of us merging together and back into nature.

Fay composed, arranged, performed, and produced all the songs on the album, working with Guangzhou-based producer Mark Lee to mix and master the album.

Subjected to intense classical training from a young age in piano and composition, Fay developed into one of China’s leading voices in modern classical music. Her orchestra music has been played in venues such as Germany’s Berliner Philharmonie, New York’s Lincoln Center, and Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts. However, after coming to the US in 2008 to study composition at Yale, Fay increasingly found classical music to be emotionally limiting and culturally isolated. Having sung in rock and jazz bands in Beijing, she began writing rock-inflected music featuring herself as a vocalist, first working with legendary downtown NYC experimental music collective Bang on a Can and later forming her own ensemble, Invisible Anatomy, an experimental chamber pop group described as “otherworldly and uncanny” by The Village Voice. She also slowly accumulated an album of bonafide rock songs.
